Jefferson County Accident Leaves One Woman Injured
A Jefferson County car accident on Highway 141 Wednesday afternoon left one woman injured after a vehicle failed to stop at a red light. According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, around 2:45pm on Wednesday, Michelle Wertenberger (40) was northbound on Highway 141 when she tried to make a left turn onto Highway 21. As she was making a left turn, an unknown driver operating a 1994 GMC Jimmy failed to stop at the red light, and the front of his vehicle hit the passenger side of Wertenberger’s Ford Edge.
Michelle Wertenberger was moderately injured as a result of the Missouri car accident and was taken to St. Anthony’s Medical Center. Reports indicated that Michelle was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident. Since reports do not indicate if the other driver was injured, and the name is unknown, there is a possibility that the driver fled the accident on foot. The fact that the 1994 GMC Jimmy was totaled as a result of the accident and towed from the scene, that is why I’m interested to know if the unknown driver fled.
If the driver did flee the scene, this accident would be classified as a hit-and-run accident. As a St. Louis personal injury lawyer I see the effects of horrific car accidents all the time. When I read about someone refusing to take responsibility for their actions it disgusts me. This is one of the reasons I decided to start participating in the Hit-and-Run Reward Program. An anonymous tip line that helps put hit-and-run drivers behind bars. Through the Hit-and-Run Reward Program responsible citizens can anonymously provide information to WeTip (call 800-644-8678), which will then be relayed to local law enforcement. If that information leads to the arrest and felony conviction of a hit-and-run driver the tipster stands to receive a reward of up to $1,000.
If you’ve been involved in a St. Louis hit-and-run accident you might not need a lawyer. But before you have to talk to any lawyers or insurance adjusters you need to read my book to ensure that you are 100% prepared for any and all post-accident scenarios. “The Missouri Accident Book” is a comprehensive guide of legal advice about Missouri car accidents that can help anyone make sure they make the best decisions possible after their Missouri car accident.
