PremPro is the trade name for a combination of hormones, primarily estrogen, used in the treatment of menopause and other symptomatic diseases of women caused by hormone imbalances. PremPro is specifically a combination of estrogen and other hormones that is taken from horses and modified for use in humans. PremPro has been linked to a number of side effects in patients who use it, however, and some of these side effects can have deadly consequences.

PremPro recall attorneys are lawyers who deal with victims of PremPro usage and those who have suffered losses from this medication. PremPro recall lawyers are currently pursuing litigation in several states to hold the manufacturer of PremPro, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, accountable for these damages.

Research that linked PremPro and other hormone replacements to side effect issues began as early as 1975. Some of these studies showed a substantial increase in the risk of endometrial cancer among women who used hormone replacement therapy. These findings led the Food and Drug Administration to order warning labels to be included in the packaging with these drugs. The Women’s Health Initiative sponsored a study by the National Institute of Health which suggested that women taking hormone replacement therapy were at an increased risk for heart attacks, strokes, blood clots, and various forms of cancer, including breast cancer.

PremPro recall lawyers have filed over 13,000 suits since 2002. However, the cases have been dismissed in many instances due to private settlements with victims. Only two cases have currently gone to trial; both have been settled for undisclosed amounts of millions of dollars in both actual and punitive damages. However, these verdicts are currently under appeal.

In the meantime, it is important for women who have suffered debilitating side effects from PremPro usage to gather facts about the possibility of litigation against Wyeth for these damages. Even if you ultimately decide not to file a lawsuit, you owe it to yourself to do everything possible to find out what your case is truly worth. Depending on the amount of your damages, your claim could be worth far more than you think. It is important to make an informed decision about whether you want to pursue damages in your case, and it is not possible to do this without accurate information.

A professional personal injury lawyer will listen to you and help you decide how much your case is worth and what steps you should take to pursue damages.

With spring well underway, riders are hitting the highways and byways on Kentucky roads and across the nation for that matter. The month of May has been declared Motorcycle Safety Awareness month by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This serves as a reminder to all drivers to be mindful that motorcycles are sharing the road.

Through April 29, 2012 in Kentucky, 12 crashes involved a motorcycle and eight victims were not wearing helmets according to KSP statistics. So as a part of the Motorcycle Safety Awareness, Kentucky has new test developed by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation designed to better determine if motorcycle operator possess sufficient safety skills for riding motorcycles in traffic. The new test expands Kentucky’s current motorcycle skill test from two to four exercises which includes left turn/normal stop; cone weave/right turn from stop; and the new skills, quick stop and obstacle swerve. KSP Commissioner Rodney Brewer said, “It comes at a critical time since statistics show a significant increase in motorcycle-related crashes in Kentucky this year. Hopefully, the new test will help motorcycle operators get off to a safe start with sound, fundamental riding skills that will make Kentucky’s roads and highways a safer place for everyone.”

Motorcycle safety is a two-way street. Auto drivers need to be vigilant to look for motorcycles, distinguishing that motorcyclists have all the same rights and privileges, because they can be harder to see, behave differently, and are far more dangerous to road hazards and impacts. Motorcyclists need to likewise be mindful that they are indeed at risk. Following simple guidelines such as staying visible like wearing bright-colored clothing, using reflective tape and DOT-compliant helmet and not riding in other motorists’ blind spots will make a difference to reduce those dangers. But the bottom line is it’s up to drivers of all vehicles to help keep the roads safe.

If you’re in a situation where a negligent physician has caused you pain and suffering, financial damages or worse, contacting a medical malpractice lawyer is the first thing you need to do to get compensated. Malpractice attorneys will, obviously, need some of your most closely guarded personal information to be able to pursue your case successfully. Don’t let this intimidate you out of filing a medical malpractice claim. No matter what you’ve been through and no matter what medical conditions you suffer, you can be certain that the attorney has likely dealt with such conditions before and you can be assured of their professionalism.

Private Information

It’s always unnerving to have to share medical information with anybody. Understand that attorney/client privilege is one of the oldest and most respected working relationships in the world. Anything you share with your attorney will be considered confidential and will not be shared with anyone without your consent. You will, however, have to face the fact that, at some point, some of this information will have to be shared in court. When you understand the potential benefits, you’ll understand why it’s oftentimes worth it for the victims of malpractice to go through with this and to have the courage to share this information in a court of law.

Helping the Jury

Part of an attorney’s job is to persuade a jury to find in favor of the client, of course. In order to do this, your attorney has to provide the jury with all of the relevant information to your claim so that they can understand what you’ve been put through and why medical negligence was an issue for you. Your attorney will oftentimes have to engage expert witnesses to back up your claim. All of this is done so that the jury gets a complete picture and so they can get to the point where they can give an informed ruling on your claim.

There’s no reason for you to worry about meeting with an attorney for free as part of a consultation and sharing your medical information with them. Medical malpractice attorneys are bound by very strict codes of ethics and, aside from that, they certainly wouldn’t be in business for long if they got a reputation for being untrustworthy with their client’s information. As far as sharing your medical information is concerned, you can trust your attorney every bit as much as you would trust any physician.

With all of the news surrounding the increase in traffic deaths in 2012, I came across an article, outlining the 5 most dangerous intersections in Las Vegas. There has been a huge push for pedestrian safety recently, this year has seen the numbers of pedestrian accidents triple, so it’s a very relevant cause. I’m sure that Las Vegas attorneys haven’t had a shortage of clients. These intersections were picked based on six months’ worth of data from Metro Police.

The intersections are scattered throughout the Las Vegas valley, the #1 spot had 19 accidents between September 2011 and March 2012, those are staggering numbers. So without further ado, I present the most dangerous intersections in Las Vegas.

#1 Lamb Boulevard and Charleston Boulevard

This intersection has seen 19 accidents in the last 6 months. As one of the most busy traffic areas in Las Vegas, you really need to be aware of the cars around you; they are coming in all directions.

#2 Maryland Parkway and Sahara Avenue

This area has seen 13 accidents in the last 6 months. It’s just north of the strip, and is always busy.

#3 Tropicana Avenue and Paradise Road

This road is down by the airport, and UNLV. It has had 13 injury collisions in the last 6 months.

#4 Sahara Avenue and Rainbow Boulevard

This is the only intersection found on the west side of the valley to make the top 5.

#5 Tropicana Avenue and Koval Lane

This route is mostly used as a short cut to destinations around the strip. This intersection has become more dangerous in the last few months, a trend that hopefully goes away soon.

Personal Injury Attorney Las Vegas

It’s important that ,if you’re ever in an accident, to speak with any witnesses who were at the scene. This is not exclusive to car accidents. You should get all the witness information you can whether you are in a car accident, pedestrian accident, are bitten by a dog, etc. It is also important to know different types of evidence gathering methods to make sure you have an accurate record of what happened. There are two categories that cover most evidence gathering: Saving records and taking pictures.

1) Trace Your Paper Trail

If you’ve been in a car accident, pedestrian accident, attacked, etc you need to call the police, no exceptions. Although you’ve called the police you still have to make sure they fill out a report. After that you need to get a copy of the report. While on the scene you should record which police department handled the case and the badge number of the responding officer so that you can easily request a copy of the report later. As soon as they file the report, get a copy for your own records.

Police reports aren’t the only thing you need to keep track of. After you’re treated you need to request copies of all of your medical records. If you have insurance you will need to get a receipt for your copy. If you feel that you have a case for medical malpractice then it’s important that you request your medical records as soon as possible. Unfortunately in some cases records might become altered or “lost” so it’s important to get all records as soon as possible.

It is also important to keep a list of witnesses. Having the address, name, and phone number of your witnesses can be useful as the defendant begins to distort the details and cloud what happened.

2) Go Camera Crazy

Take pictures of as much as you can. This includes anything that was damaged, the general scene, your injuries, etc. On your chart the doctor may write “extreme bruising and skin abrasions” but what does that really mean? By the time everything is being handled your wounds could very well be healed. Having pictures is important.

If you are in an accident taking pictures of the scene is key. There was once a woman who got in contact with us after her child was injured on his school playground by cement fixtures. The next day she photographed everything. When her child returned to school a few days later the fixtures had been removed by the grounds crew.

It should be noted that the school was not trying to be deceptive or hide evidence. The fixtures were removed after the accident because they realized how dangerous they were and wanted to prevent more injuries. Either way the claim would have been more difficult to fight had the mother not gathered the evidence quickly.

Keeping accurate records makes a huge difference in your injury claim. Request your free copy of my Missouri injury guide, “I Survived! The Victim’s Guide to the Aftermath,” today for more information, from how to deal with the insurance adjusters when they call, to exactly what other information you should record.

According to an article posted by Fox 2 News, a two-year-old girl is dead after being hit by an SUV in North County last Friday afternoon. The toddler, Aaliyah Jones, was playing in her driveway in St. Louis County when she was hit by an SUV driven by 23-year-old. The young man was slowly backing out of his driveway and he did not see the child.

Aaliyah Jones was taken to Christian Hospital and then flown by helicopter to St. Louis Children’s Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The St. Louis County Police Sargeant said the investigation as ongoing but that no charges were anticipated. Currently it appears that what happened was “an unfortunate accident.”

My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Aaliyah Jones. It is devastating for an accident to claim the life of someone so young.

Accidents involving kids are so traumatic, it is easy to be confused and not know what to do in the aftermath. However, there are certain mistakes that are critical to avoid. It is best to get the right information before an accident even occurs so you have the best chance to be prepared. Before you speak to an attorney, insurance adjuster, or sign any forms you need to request a free copy of my consumer accident guide, “The Missouri Accident Book: Dealing with the Aftermath,” to learn what you need to know!

Tamara Borak was driving a 1983 Kazuma ATV when she lost control of the vehicle. The ATV traveled off the right side of the road where it overturned and ejected Borak.

Borak, who was wearing a safety device, was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph West Hospital in Lake St. Louis. Reports indicated that Tamara Borak was taken to the hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.

Riding an ATV isn’t like riding a bike or driving a car. The steering can be more complex, especially if you are riding on rough terrain. Make sure you get the proper training before operating an ATV. Many people think they are easy to operate, and that they are appropriate for young children to drive, this is not the case and can be very dangerous.

If you’ve been involved in a Missouri auto accident, you might not need a lawyer. But before you talk to any lawyers or insurance adjusters you need to read my book to ensure that you are 100% prepared for any and all post-accident scenarios. “The Missouri Accident Book” is a comprehensive guide of legal advice about Missouri car accidents that can help anyone make sure they make the best decisions possible after their Missouri car accident. Click here to order your free copy today.

Around 4:15 pm on Wednesday, a Maryland Heights police officer was hit by a car driven by a 21-year-old man after the officer had pulled him over for a traffic violation. According to an article by KSDK Channel 5, the officer pulled over the vehicle on Roth Hill Drive. Although the office originally pulled the driver over for a traffic violation, once he began questioning the suspect about a possible drug violation, the suspect accelerated backwards and knocked the officer to the ground.

The officer then fired a shot at the vehicle which hit the suspect’s front tire. The suspect then hit the police car and fled from the scene. The suspect’s car became disabled, and then officers that responded to the accident took the suspect into custody. A large quantity of drugs was found inside the suspect’s car. The police officer that was struck by the 21-year-old suspect was taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The officer is expected to make a complete recovery.

As a Missouri personal injury lawyer, when I read about someone refusing to take responsibility for their actions it disgusts me. This is one of the reasons I decided to start participating in the Hit-and-Run Reward Program. An anonymous tip line that helps put hit-and-run drivers behind bars. Through the Hit-and-Run Reward Program responsible citizens can anonymously provide information to WeTip (call 800-644-8678), which will then be relayed to local law enforcement. According to an article posted by KMOV Channel 4, Joseph Casson (22) and his grandfather, David Casson Sr. (80), were traveling eastbound on Route 161 on Wednesday. Around 12:30 pm, they entered the Route 4 intersection where they were hit by a driver who ran a red light, Tammy Small (35). The impact sent both cars into a light pole.

David Casson was pronounced dead at the scene and Joseph Casson was treated at the scene by Mascoutah EMS then taken to St. Louis University Hospital by helicopter. Joseph Casson later died at the hospital. Tammy Small was taken to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital by ambulance for treatment of minor injuries.

There were speculations that Small may have been texting when the accident happened. Police checked her phone records, which indicated that she wasn’t, but the investigation is ongoing to determine if there will be any charges filed.

Whether or not Small was texting when she ran the red light, she was obviously distracted by something. Cell phones are a dangerous type of distracted driving but there are also other very dangerous activities people do while driving that can take someone’s life.

Distracted driving is contributing to an ever increasing number of traffic accidents. The driver looks away for just a second to text, reply to email, put on makeup, or deal with passengers and by the time they look up it is too late. Fortunately, cell phone records can reveal such distractions after the fact even if the driver doesn’t initially come clean about the distraction. If the distraction was from something besides a cell phone, it’s a little harder to prove.

If you or a loved one have been in a car accident because of a distracted driver, you might not need an attorney, but you will need helpful and accurate information. Before you speak to a lawyer, insurance adjuster, or sign any forms, you need to read my FREE book, “The Missouri Accident Book: Dealing with the Aftermath.” This book will arm you with the information necessary to make all the right moves after your Missouri car accident.

Drivers have the unfortunate task of having to prepare for all types of weather conditions, especially in the winter. As an auto accident attorney, I want to prepare my clients for the worst. What if you’ve done everything you need to have done and you still end up in an accident. What do you do?

In any normal situation, whether you’ve rear-ended someone or just run off the road, you would call the police, review the accident report, seek medical attention, etc. But what if the winter weather that caused the accident is now also preventing help from reaching you?

The following is a list of things to keep in your car to keep yourself prepared for winter accidents:

Basic first aid kit: This is pretty self-explanatory, besides most people have this in their car regardless of weather.

Blankets, water bottles, and non-perishable food: If you end up being stuck for a long time, you’ll be glad you had these basic survival items.

Full tank of gas: Again, if you’re stuck for a long period of time, and running the car is a safe option, you’ll want to be able to run it and turn the heat on periodically. Another thing a full tank of gas does is give your car some extra weight;this will give you traction and more control over the vehicle.

Flashlight: Although a popular rumor, accidents actually do not just occur on well-lit streets or during the day time.

Cell phone: Don’t use it while driving, but it’s still always good to have one on hand for emergencies.

Ice scraper: If you don’t clear your windshield of ice you can cause some big problems; poor visibility is a leading cause of car crashes.

Kitty litter: Gross, right? You’ll probably want to keep some (unused) sand or kitty litter around if you plan on leaving your vehicle parked for longer than an hour, or if there’s snow and ice on the ground. Sprinkle some around the ground near your tires to help improve traction and prevent spin outs.

Shovel: A small shovel might come in handy if you need to dig yourself out of a snow drift or clear excess snow from your tires.

Being well-prepared can help you survive not just your average roadside breakdown, but get through an injury accident claim more smoothly as well. To be best prepared for that, request your free copy of my Missouri accident guide, “I Survived! The Crash Victim’s Guide to Dealing with the Aftermath.”
