Sgt. Al Nothum of the Missouri Highway Patrol said the worker was picking up a highway sign and crossed the southbound lanes of Interstate 55 around 10:45 a.m. when the accident happened.

A man from St. Louis County was killed over the weekend, after the van he was a passenger in, had a tire blow-out and sent the vehicle out of control and rolling off Interstate 55, says KSDK.
The crash occurred Saturday morning around 7:15 a.m. south of Jackson in Cape Girardeau County. Killed was 49 year old Charles Burnes of Fenton.
