Truck Driver Suffers Serious Injury in I-64 Crash; East St. Louis Highway Shuts Down Due to Severity

A fiery crash in the portion of 1-64 that goes through East St. Louis left one truck driver seriously injured. In fact, the wreckage will cause the highway to be shut down until at least rush hour. Witnesses of the accident said that clouds of black smoke started billowing from the truck as it lay on its side with the cab crushed in. Rescuers got the driver out about an hour later on a stretcher and he was reported to have serious injuries. The clean up for the truck will be extensive, as the Illinois department of transportation has to wait for news on what to do with the diesel and hydraulic material. Continue reading

Young Godfrey Man Killed in Fire after Crash with Tractor-Trailer in Alton, Illinois

19 year old Joshua Headrick was killed after colliding with a tractor-trailer early Thursday morning, as reported by the St. Louis Post-Disptach. Joshua hit the tractor-trailer when he was heading eastbound on College Ave in Alton, IL and the truck made a left turn from westbound 140. After the crash, the car caught on fire, leaving Joshua to be identified through his dental records. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Continue reading
